There are instances when you may choose not to use your insurance benefits for assessment. Or, you may not have insurance that offers behavioral health coverage. There will be times when a requested service is not considered medically necessary by an insurance company, and it will be necessary for you to pay for that service privately. Educational assessment for learning disorders and some pre-surgical assessments are not considered medically necessary by most insurance companies. There may be instances when a portion of an assessment is covered by insurance, but another portion is not covered (e.g., assessment for ADHD but there are also learning challenges that need to be explored further to rule out a learning disorder). In those cases, the uncovered portion of the assessment is paid privately while the covered portion is what is billed to your insurance. Below are my current rates for assessment services.
