There are several reasons you may choose—or be required—to pay for an assessment privately. Most insurance companies do not consider educational testing (such as evaluations for learning disorders) to be "medically necessary."
In cases where a portion of your testing is covered (e.g., ADHD) but another portion is not (e.g., a suspected learning disorder), the uncovered portion is paid privately.
